Hypnosis from the Dark Side
April 5, 2011
Everyone heard at one time or another about hypnosis being used for something negative, either for love, murder or assassination. There are also plenty of movies where hypnosis is mentioned in a negative way.
There is some sort of truth to that, but it’s actually much less interesting than the movies might make you think.
What people don’t know is that you can find hypnosis in the day to day life of everyone. Each day, we go into trances, even though we don’t realize it. In plenty of cases, we get hypnotized by accident, but it’s usually well intentioned and harmless. In other cases, we are hypnotized on purpose, so we would sell, buy or do something else.
This hypnosis is usually done by the news, media, ads or the government. People have gone a long time without needing all the stuff we gather in our homes these days, but since the television and other types of media started bombarding us with ads, we buy a lot more things than we need to.
Each day, we get bombarded by thousands of different messages, targeting us and trying to convince us that we need something better, newer, bigger. For example, instead of a map, we buy a GPS that we use maybe once a year.
This is one way that hypnosis can be dark. If you are convinced to buy a car when your old one works just fine, then you don’t improve in any way, you just improve your view of your status.
When you think of news, you think of information and recent events being reported. However, news is more about catching the people’s interest, so they tend to be about wars, financial difficulties, illness, rapes or murder.
If you would get only good news, you would stop watching the news. That’s a problem with the dark side of hypnosis, as it gives people a false view of the world around us. Because they want improved ratings and achievements, TV stations prefer to show you a negative view of the world.
Since hypnosis can prove to be so powerful, you have to be careful even with the smallest ways that it influences us. There are plenty of dangers of the hypnotic kind around us and we can be influenced without knowing.
Wondering how to fight it and keep yourself realistic? Make up your own choices and be careful what those are. Being original, critical and rational are the easiest ways not to fall into the traps of the modern society and to be able to get out of the power of these hypnotical messages when you get trapped by them. Be skeptical when the situation asks for it.
As long as you are skeptical of the information you receive, you will be able to decide for yourself what is true and what isn’t. Beliefs that you once thought of as true can be reconsidered if you find them false. Ridiculing the information that you choose to analyze instead of just accepting it will help you choose the right information to believe in.
