Influencing Subjects by Using the High Status Hypnosis Tactic
October 1, 2009
Power tactics have been used in hypnosis for decades and they are key strategies to influence and persuade the subject. Using these tactics you will be able to change the lives of your subjects and make their existence happier. While you are learning these tactics you must always keep in mind the concepts of hypnotic language foundations, Signal Recognition skills and Rapport skills.
These concepts will start to combine themselves with the Power tactics and you will get better at your job. At one point all this information will converge and smooth flow patterns will emerge. Power tactics allow you to assume the role of the authority while the person is in trance. These tactics will enable you to take the high status and this will be your first used tactic.
This power tactic of “High Status” will help you lead your subjects towards suggestions. The high status must not be confused with your own personality. It is just a role you have to take in order to accomplish the purpose. High status, equal status and low status will be used by you for many times with many subjects. You will meet people that will instantaneously take the high status and some the low status. You, as a hypnotist, will have to change roles whenever it is necessary. The roles you will choose will depend on the subject’s situation. You must understand each role and know the exact moment when to switch from one role to another.
Playing these roles also allows you to get more flexibility and understand better the person you are working with. But getting the authority figure needed for suggestion can only be done by assuming the high status.
The only problem that may appear is that some people do not feel comfortable talking to other types of people. There are some that like dealing with the low status and some the other way around.
This means that you will have to determine which person you are dealing with and do what it is comfortable for them. In the beginning you will do this but after a while, you will have to assume the high status. If at the beginning you are dealing with a person that liked to talk to another person with a low status, you will assume that till the person trusts you. After that you will resume the high status. When you are having the low status you are less assertive. Try to feed information into the subconscious and make the person trust you.
When taking the role of high status you will include two concepts in the authority role: the body language and the behavior, including your tonality. These are the things that will signal the other and let them know you have the high status and they will respond more powerfully. You may be also required to change the status even if you are dealing with the same person, so that you make the subject feel comfortable.
How do you take on the high status?
You should know that high status people give away signals in a very relaxed manner and they feel comfortable with themselves. High status people can be easily spotted. They show Calm Movements and do not rush into actions.
If you are to take the high status role, then you need to show the same behavior. Low status people rub their hand or have a bouncing leg. You should not have that. Also, you must use the space widely. Low status people stay in the corners of a room. High status people lean back in chairs and are invading other people’s space.
The third signal of a high status person is exposing vulnerable parts like the throat, groin or abdomen. When a person has a low status they sit with their legs crossed, covering their parts.
The steady eye contact is the fourth and final signal of a high status person and you can tell what emotion they are experiencing by looking into their eyes.
