In the hypnotic relationship it is important to strive for the high status. But it is also very important to know when to play a low status. You need to make the subject feel comfortable and this may mean switching from one role to another.
Only after you have the trust and attention of your subjects you can move to a higher role status in the relationship. You attain that by giving out some subconscious signals. Some of these signals include use of speech, eye contact, use of space or exposing the vulnerable parts. The principals will create the background required for the next step which will be boosting your authority.

The Consistency Principle is what puts that into action and it is defined like this: a person is making a public statement about a thing and they will have to act on it and keep true what they said. And this can mean only good things because we are usually acting on trusting people with a great education. Once the person proves itself to be an expert in the field, we will open up more to him.
The great thing about this technique is that while you are opening up and talking to a crowd of people, you are automatically assuming the role of the leader. Of course that will mean some extra pressure on you and you will have to be able to elevate yourself to the required level. These all are very important skills in your work. Try to make sure that you are doing them right and never stop practicing. If you are able to deal with the social pressure the other people will see you as an authority figure.
