The Piggy Back Principle and the Yes Sets

You must know by now that the agreement tactics are highly useful in conversational hypnosis and this happens because they are helping you to get pass the critical factor and get into the other person’s head.
You also know by now that the critical factor must sleep so that you are able to do suggestions. If the critical factor is awake you are not able to do that.
There are 4 Agreement Tactics and the first one is called Plausibility. This means that if a person has the habit of agreement, you can serve them many ideas and they will likely consider them true.
The second one is called the Agreement Habit. This is based on “going first” technique and this means that you will immerse yourself into that idea before the subject does that by himself. You are inviting him to do that.
The third and fourth Agreement Tactics were revealed by Milton Erickson and they are the “Yes Set” and Piggy Backing of Suggestion.
The “Yes Set” tactic is quite useful as you will begin the conversation with statements that are very true and go on with that. When you are doing that, you will activate a certain part of the subject’s brain that likes agreeing. And after he starts agreeing, it will be much easier to bring another idea and convince him to agree. There are three different ways to prove that this works. The first method is to repeat what the subject says. The second one is to state all the obvious facts and the third is to create “Yes Set” truisms. Truisms are sayings that a culture has conditioned its inhabitants to believe as unmistakably true. If the majority of the people view something in one way, the others will do that too.
These three methods are highly used by hypnotists in conversational hypnosis. This happens because they are easy to accomplish and easy to manipulate.
The fourth Agreement Tactic is called the Piggy Back Principal and it refers to attaching suggestions to some other statements that are being heard by the listener. You do this by getting the subject to agree with you first and create him pleasure. You can use compliments, yes sets, repeating his words and many others. Create an environment that the subject will like and also accept. This will always work because people love praises and agreements. And when you are tying something to an accepted statement, it will get by the filter and agreed upon on the unconscious level.
You can also combine the two methods and use yes sets and piggy back suggestions at the same time. Add a suggestion at the end of a statement like: “When you get out of the car, lock the doors.” You will get out of that car sometimes, so it is true.
The third way you can do piggy back suggestions is to give feedback to the subject and they will have to accept it. Add compliments too and it will go smoothly.
