Trance Signals – Little Known Secrets
September 10, 2009
Everyday we have to recognize signals and the more accurate they are, the more help we get at realizing whether we are successful or not with the things we do. As far as hypnosis is concerned, those signals are very important. Being tuned into the signals of trance makes it possible to create a connection with the patient and heal them. If you miss the signs, the connection doesn’t appear.
It is very important to have a clear image of all the signals so that you can pick up even the most subtle ones. There are actually some obvious signs happening when a person enters the hypnotic state of mind. There are some subtle signals too. Among the obvious signs there is the attention absorption, involuntary muscle movements, the change in breathing, smoothness of facial features, lack of mobility and also increased passive responses.
But in this article we will reveal the less obvious signals. When you are looking for trance signals remember that you are not looking for a specific one. Each signal can change from one person to another. We shall discuss now about the pupil dilation. A change in pupil dilation is caused by the change in size of the black eye center. There are other factors that can cause this change and this is why it is sometimes hard to discover. Also, the eyes of the subjects may not be in your direct view and during hypnosis many people close the eyes as they feel more relaxed. There are also others that avoid eye contact. Changes in the light can also affect the pupil dilatation.
Another hard to detect trance signal is the pulse of the subject. Usually the pulse gets slower as the subject enters the hypnosis state of mind. If you notice a change in the pulse it means the subject is in the trance state. You can spot the change of pulse by touching the subject. But you may not be able to touch the subject. If you can not do that, then you need to know where to look. There are some areas of the body where the vessels are close to the skin surface and you can see them, the side of the neck is a good place or even the ankle bone.
One of the less obvious signals is the blink reflex. If you know it exists, then it is very easy to spot. It is considered less obvious because there are many practitioners who do not know about it. You can have problems monitoring the signal if you do not see the subject’s eyes and some people even blink rapidly when the eyelids becoming cataleptic, which means the lids are frozen for big periods of time. Changes in the swallowing reflex are also signals. During hypnosis some people just stop swallowing. Usually, many people fell asleep during hypnosis but they do not close their eyes because they can find it embarrassing to sleep while another person is talking to them.
Other little known signals are the changing of tone and the skin color. When the person starts to relax, his blood flows much slower and the skin can become a little lighter. But there are people that tend to get darker as they relax.
The trance signal number six is the tone of voice. It can change but it is hard to recognize because in hypnosis some people are not speaking. But you may notice a slower speech rate or a lower tone of voice. There are even people that stop talking when they enter the trance status.
These are some of the less obvious signs of entering the trance state and some are hard to detect. But if you are informed and try to apply what you have learned, it can get easy in time.
These all are very good identifiers that you managed to get the subject into the hypnosis state and you can begin the therapy. Watch closely for all these changes in the first few minutes with the subject. Also remember that each person is unique and that you will get better mastering these skills over time.
