Using the Trance Voice and the Tonality to Learn Hypnosis Better
October 11, 2009
Being a good hypnotist does not come after just a few hours of practice. It is something that needs to be developed in time and with constant practice. One of the most important things you must focus your attention on is to sharpen your skills. The first four principals we discussed in the other article are highly important and you must try to become on with your language.
You must also try to squeeze the meaning out of words and to make them sound as you want them to. Accentuating your ideas, your suggestions must be done through emphasis. Last but not least, the rhythm and tone will be adding a unique style to your language and you will captivate the subject’s attention. Enhancing these performances can be accomplished through a number of ways. All the principals have the purpose of making you the authority figure in the trance and only if you are the authority figure you will be able to use suggestion. Now that you know what skills you must master, we shall discuss about learning the tonality sills.
You must not be impatient. Learning the trance voice doesn’t happen in a few seconds. It takes a lot of practice. Let’s take music for example. Some songs manage to bring you memories, thoughts or ideas. The music triggers something in your brain and makes your recall. This will happen to your subjects too. They will learn your trance voice and will be able to focus on it and stay with the suggestion.
There are many types of trance voices and they all signal the unconscious mind to become open to suggestions. You must keep in mind that people must enjoy listening to your trance voice. You must only use the trance voice when you are with a subject. While you will develop the trance voice, you will see that many emotional triggers will activate and will also assist you in hypnotizing the subject.
A big part of the trance voice is the tonality. You must know that the voice has 3 stages: upward inflection, straight and level and downward intonation. You will use all of these to send out your message to the subject.
The upward inflection is mostly used when a question is posed. Simple statements are made with a straight and level tone and if you use the downward intonation, at the end of a sentence, it will sound like a command. The questioning tonality has the purpose of creating the nonverbal ‘Yes Set’. This means you are using your tonality so that the person will agree with what you are saying.
Questioning tonality can also be used to “Create Doubt” in the subject’s mind. Using this you can cast shadows on many ideas by breaking the question in smaller emphasized questions. You will also be able to create doubt by repeating a statement and adding emphasis on a different area. If you repeat what somebody just told you, you will cast doubt automatically.
The principle of “Imply Don’t Assert” is another method of using questioning tonality. You will make your point but without saying the exact words. You will be just implying.
“Keep Em Talking” is another questioning tonality method that uses nonverbal communication with some questions in order to get more information out of people. The command tonality will set everything in its place and will activate that part of the brain that fulfills requests. Sure, not everybody responds to these techniques but it is noticed that when doing the right steps, people tend to respond better.

Loved the “say something stupid”. Bad publicity is better than no publicity right? This might not be the case all the time but is something worth a try. And making compliments always works
